Dojo Name: Soko-Meijin Academy
Clan: Lion
First detailed information on the Dojo.
Source : Personal
Dojo Cost: 5
School : Akodo Bushi, Akodo War College, Ikoma Tactician
History:
Soko-Meijin Academy was built in honor of Akodo Soko, who standarised the rules of Shogi. After her death she was given the title of Meijin, and all title holders take the name of soko-meijin.
Her favourite student, Akodo Masaru, later built the Dojo to honor her memory, inside Shiro Akodo. The dojo flourishes, mainly because it is the center of shogi enthusiasts in the Empire. Every time the current soko-meijin turns forty, a tournament is held in this dojo for the next champion. The winner is allowed to swear fealty to the Lion.
Tradition:
This dojo is steeped in tradition. Most students are expected to adhere to all Lion traditional values, even if they are not Lion themselves. Though quite tolerant of visitors, most students are not allowed the same mistake twice. Thus the standards of the Academy are kept quite high. Most are expected to at least have a passing knowledge of shogi, calligraphy and of course battle.
Besides the Tournaments held here and the tests for the judges, there is one more notable tradition....On the eve of Akodo Soko's death, a great tournament is held for the students. The best students receive kanji-fans made especially by the sensei of the school. Exceptional students might even be rewarded with one of the original Soko's fans, a great honor indeed.
Training:
Most training is quite regorous. The Akodo are very thorough. All standard practices of the Akodo training are followed to the letter.
Additionaly, students are expected to study shogi and play above average. Falling behind in shogi classes is frowned upon. This makes the students a bit more competitive that other Akodo academies.
Sensei:
Akodo Serata, Akodo Tactician 4, is the current sensei of the dojo. A certified judge of Shogi, and a very respectable player too, he has not managed to gain the Meijin title....yet. He is constantly working for that title, playing major players visiting the Dojo almost constantly. He deals with low ranking students very rarely, leaving those duties to his second in command, Akodo Nasako Akodo Tactitian 3. Nasako is more interested in training tacticians and bushi than perfecting his shogi. He is non-the-less one of the best players in the Academy.
Notable Students:
The Academy has many students that do well in shogi. However the advanced students are more notable. Most are non-Lions who take the advanced classes in order to learn more about shogi. Both Kitsuki Yasiri, the previous Meijin, and Akodo Masako the current one, have studied in this dojo (Though Yasiri declined swearing fealty to the Lion).
Training Benefit:
Students of Soko-Meijin Academy receive a Free Raise on all their Go rolls when playing Shogi.
Social Benefit:
Students can choose once per day a free raise on a Calligraphy or History roll. In addition, due to their competitive natures, they may add half their Go skill to all contested Battle rolls. However they must also add the same amount to all TN to back down.
Le site est excellent

On y trouve un autre dojo basé sur le go, le Two-Stones Atari Dojo, pour Tacticien Ikoma, lui aussi soumis par ST (et approuvé par MorganW)
